The Champagne and Oysters Cycling Club (COCC) charitable bike ride, an annual cycle which raises money for the Princess Charlene Of Monaco Foundation, has been postponed due to the Coronavirus. The event would have seen around 100 athletes, altruists and celebrities cycle from St Tropez to Monaco on Sunday April 26th, with a street party to celebrate in the evening.
The organisers have decided to prioritise the safety of the cyclists and guests by delaying the event until more is known about the COVID-19 pandemic. The COCC is working to confirm a new date and this will be released as soon as possible. Organisers stress that anyone who has already paid and cannot or does not want to take part when the new date is announced will be refunded upon request.
If anyone would like to sponsor the event who hasn’t yet had the chance to, there are still a number of exciting opportunities. All funds raised by the COCC charity bike ride will go to the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, an incredible organisation which works to improve water safety and prevent drowning.
Those interested in sponsorship can choose anything from branding on the cyclists’ kits and pre and post-event representation to sponsoring the start of the race in Saint Tropez, the end of the race at Stars n’ Bars, or the street party. The company urges businesses to get in touch to discuss any custom sponsorship ideas. Alternatively, companies and individuals can simply donate directly to the cause on the COCC website.
Co-Founder and Event Organiser Damian Crean said:
“Given the uncertainty caused by the current Coronavirus situation we have decided to postpone this year’s COCC ride until later in the year.
We believe that this is the prudent action to take at this time and hopefully people will be able to confirm participation once the new date is confirmed.
We hope that participants are not too inconvenienced by this and that any travel plans can be rearranged once we have advised the new date.”
