VERO BEACH, FL, February 2019 – Communications International (Ci) and local partner Hurricane Electronics, Inc. (HEI) have been selected to supply and install an expanded P25 digital public safety radio system for Jackson County, Mississippi and its 1,600 users.

The Ci/HEI team will replace Jackson County’s current end-of-life system with a turnkey, 7-site 800 MHz linear simulcast network that incorporates the latest Harris P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 technology. Ci’s customized solution will enable Jackson County to experience better reliability, seamless roaming and expanded coverage, as well as provide complete interoperability with the neighboring counties of Harrison, MS and Mobile, AL where Harris P25 systems are currently deployed. These systems are currently supported by Ci’s local partner, Hurricane Electronics.

Jackson County’s new system design features Harris’ VIDA Core network that supports both LMR narrowband and LTE broadband data networks, the BeOn® push-to-talk platform for cellular phones and smart devices, and Harris’ Symphony™ consoles at the County’s dispatch locations.

“Jackson County expressed a critical need for better coverage, and we are pleased to provide them with a solution that not only achieves this goal, but will significantly improve communications along the Gulf Coast I-10 corridor,” stated Geno Viviano, Ci president of sales and service. “We understand how vital a reliable communications system is for the safety of the County’s residents and first responders, and we appreciate the opportunity to partner with them on this project.”
