The European Union (EU) has published its eleventh adaptation on technical and scientific progress, ATP-11, to the Classification, Labeling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation – (EC) 1272/2008.
The latest adaptation, published on May 4, 2018 as Regulation (EU) 2018/669, contains changes to the list of substances in Annex VI of the CLP Regulation, including:
• Ensuring all the chemical names in Table 3.1 are in the same language as the legislation’s publishing language
• Table 3.1 becomes Table 3 following the deletion of Table 3.2 in June 2017
Regulation (EU) 2018/669 will come into effect on December 1, 2019, but substances and mixtures can be classified, labeled and packaged in accordance with the new regulations before this date.
Stakeholders should be aware that, unless specifically exempted, a substance must be self-classified when it does not have a harmonized classification under Annex VI to the CLP Regulation. In instances where hazard classes and differentiations are not covered in the entry, the substances or mixture must be evaluated and self-classified.
