During his more than two decades as CEO and Senior Management Consultant for Labrador Technology, Thomas Bradbury guided clients through transition, relocation and renovation. He realized a cold, hard truth: too many corporate workplaces are broken--polarized environments where employees are trapped between competing silos of power, thwarting collaboration and productivity.
This realization prompted Bradbury to found his newest company, WorkplaceUX, which focuses on the burgeoning field of workplace user experience.
“In my work helping clients thru transition, relocation, renovation, I was routinely interacting with senior managers in IT, corporate real estate and human resources in the same company and came to realize that they often had competing goals and rules,” said Bradbury. “CEOs were mostly unaware of the conflicts and the negative impact it was having on employees.”
The disconnect between leaderships’ goals and the people tasked with building out the workplace or service was costing the company in terms of employee potential and motivation, noted Bradbury.
“Instead of as a collaborative effort, department executives were making business decisions as silos, narrowly focusing on a particular project, budget, lease or schedule rather than overall employee engagement or investments in the future,” explains Bradbury.
WorkplaceUX works with CEOs and others in the C-suite to replace silos of conflicting agendas with a holistic view of the work environment on a macro level, which reduces friction in the workplace. By bringing users, builders and leaders together through key prisms that, together, comprise every person’s workplace experience, companies create a strong brand and company culture, an environment that employees want to be part of, spur collaboration, motivation and productivity, control costs and generate substantial incremental profitability.
