America’s Top Dogs to Walk Red Carpet; Special Musical Performance by Richard Marx
The American Humane Hero Dog Awards® are an annual, nationwide competition that searches out and recognizes America’s Hero Dogs – often ordinary dogs who do extraordinary things, whether it’s saving lives on the battlefield, lending sight or hearing to a human companion, or simply providing the tail-wagging welcome a pet owner relishes at the end of a hard day. Dogs compete in seven different categories for the Hero Dog Awards: Law Enforcement/Arson Dogs, Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Military Dogs, Search and Rescue Dogs, Guide/Hearing Dogs, and Emerging Hero Dogs (the category for “ordinary” dogs who do extraordinary things). The Hero Dog Awards celebrate the powerful, age-old bond between dogs and people – and give recognition to courageous acts of heroism performed by our four-legged best friends.
The country’s seven most heroic hounds walked the Red Carpet before taking part in the seventh annual “American Humane Hero Dog Awards.” On September 16th, seven of America’s top dogs received Hero Dog awards for their work as military dogs, therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, guide/hearing dogs, arson dogs, service dogs, and law enforcement dogs. Based on nearly a million public votes and voting by a celebrity panel, one special dog will be named the “2017 American Hero Dog.” Hosting the awards was Beth Stern and James Denton, who was accompanied by many other special celebrity presenters. The night’s featured musical performer was Richard Marx.
America’s seven most courageous canines was accompanied by LANCE BASS, BRITTANY SNOW, DANIELLE FISHEL, WELLS ADAMS, JOSIE BISSETT, LACEY CHABERT, DAISY FUENTES, CARRIE ANN INABA, BAILEE MADISON, KELLIE MARTIN, DEBBIE MATENOPOULOS, CAMERON MATHISON, DANICA McKELLAR, BARBARA NIVEN, ALEXA & CARLOS PENAVEGA, COURTNEY THORNE-SMITH, MARK STEINES, ALICIA WITT (PRE-TAPES--BILLY CRYSTAL & JAY LENO.
American Humane is the country's first national humane organization, founded in 1877. Their Hero Dog Awards® celebrate the extraordinary life-changing, life-saving achievements of ordinary dogs. The event will be broadcast nationwide on Hallmark Channel later this fall.
