Statue of Maitreya Buddha having height of 49 feet is major attraction of Thiksey monastery.

Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery: Situated in Coorg, Karnataka: It is made by Pema Norbu Rinpoche. This Monastery is a supreme place for learning Buddhism. This monastery attracts huge number of tourist, lamas and monks on the occasion of Tibetan New Year from each corner of the world.

Tabo Monastery: Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh: Tabo Monastery located at left bank of the Spiti River is one of the oldest monasteries in India. It is also known as Ajanta of the Himalayas because of a number of caves encircles the monastery. The monastery complex includes 9 temples, 23 chortens and a monk's chamber. One of the major center for learning Buddhism.

Phuktal Monastery: Zanskar, Ladakh: The reason behind name of this monastery is the entire monastery is built on the mouth of a cave. Phuktal means through caves. Phuktal monastery is a key attractions for the trekking lovers because of using a to reach bridge to reach to monastery. A river flows below the bridge whole year. This monastery is made by Gangsem Sherap Sampo.

Ghoom Monastery: Darjeeling, West Bengal: Ghoom Monastery, also known as Ghum Monastery is renowned name of Yiga Choeling Monastery situated in Darjeeling, West Bengal. It follows the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. This moansery is just 6km away from Darjeeling town. It is built by Lama Sharap Gyatso. Enchey Monastery: Gangtok, Sikkim: Situated in the Kanchenjunga mountain range is surrounded by dense forest. Founder of this monastery is Lama Druptob Karpo. Enchey monastery is known for its picturesque view location and the colorful architecture.

Enchey monastery celebrates Chaam festival every year in 18th, 19th and the 20th day of the Tibetan Calendar. Main attractions of the Chaam festival is Singhe Chaam celebrated once in three years.

Mindrolling Monastery: It is situated in Dehradun in the foothills of the Himalayas. The founder of the Mindrolling Monastery is Rigzin Terdak Lingpa. Mindrolling means Place of Perfect Emancipation. This monastery is also considered as one of the largest Buddhist Viharas in India. Mindrolling Monastery, one of the largest Buddhist Viharas in India is a major centre for learning Buddhist scriptures. Surrounding areas of this monastery is very attractive.

Tawang Monastery: Located in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, popular destination for trekking. The Snow covered mountains of the Himalaya increases the beauty of tawang monastery.

It is also termed as Chosen Horse Monastery. The calm and soothing surroundings tawang monastery make it a perfect tourist. This monastery is birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama. Founder of the monastery is Mera Lama Lodre Gyatso. It is ornamented with eye-catching statues telling Buddhist teachings and life of Buddha.

Tawang monastery, referred as one of largest monasteries in the India is a delectable craft centre in the state. Losar is a main and major festival celebrated in tawang monastery.

Tsuglagkhang Complex: The Tsuglagkhang Complex is the residence of His Holiness, The Dalai Lama. It contains numerous small monasteries and stupas. Tsuglagkhang complex is situated near to Mcleod Ganj, Dharamshala and surrounded by gorgeous pine trees forests. The prayer flags of the Tsuglagkhang Complex are very pretty.

Kye Monastery: Located in Spiti valley in Himachal Pradesh: It is an oldest monastery in the Spiti Valley. Kee monastery is a major learning center of the Buddhist monks and lamas. Kye monastery is contains many Buddhist paintings and holy scriptures.

Namgyal Monastery: It is located in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Founded by third Dalai Lama. It is one of holiest monastery in India and entire world.

Rumtek Monastery: Rumtek is largest and most visited monastery Sikkim, holding over 200 monasteries. Rumtek monastery celebrates the Tibetan New Year during May and June month followed by special prayers, parade and beautiful masked dance.

Diskit Monastery: It is also knwn as Diskit Gompa or Diskit Monastery is located in Leh. It is one of the oldest & largest monasteries in Leh made by Changzem Tserab Zangpo. It’s a unique place to explore Naruba Valley. Diskit monastery contains a big statue of Jampa Buddha.

Gonjang Monastery: Gonjang Monastery is founded by Tingkye Gonjang Rimpoche, who was an incarnation of Yolmo Terton Ngak'chang Shakya Zangpo located in Sikkim. Presently it is one of major centre for learning Buddhism. Gonjang Monastery celebrates Buddha Purnima is highly cheerfully. Saga Dawa celebrated during this commemoration.

Gondola Monastery: The Gondola Monastery is established in Himachal Pradesh and founded by Padmasambhava, known as Guru Rinpoche. Gondola Monastery is considered as holy sites due to it’s a centre place of Chandra and Bhaga River. It also contains wooden statues.

Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat: Palpung Sherabling Monastery is located in Kangra Valley, Himachal Pradesh.
